Usually I go kind of crazy and completely move EVERYTHING around!!! This time I decided to make a few small, but I think crucial changes to the arrangement of my room.
First of all, I decided to get rid of my teacher desk a couple weeks into the school year and I LOVE it! As a result, I am using my guided reading and computer tables as my "desk". I needed some place to store all my stuff. {Side note: After I got rid of my desk, I was telling a family member about it and the first thing he said was "Where are you going to put the stuff that you take away from the kids?" hahahaha} This is what I have been using to store my "things".
It worked fine, but as you can see it is quite the mess. Plus, I did not care for being able to see through the drawers. I needed something "cute." :)
My son and I were at Walmart and walking by a clearance display and I saw this 3 drawer cart on clearance for $10 and it was PINK! I snatched it up and put it in place of the ugly thing above.
I especially love that I moved my pot of pens to this. Before it was on my computer table and there just wasn't enough room. I made that pot by myself. If you are interested in how I did it, you can read about it {here}.
As a result of having this new cute drawer cart, I was able to clean off my computer table. This made me extremely happy!
I have two 2 drawer file cabinets next to my computer table on the left side. You can see that I have trays on top. I have 6 six trays: one for each day of the week and then one for all the extra papers I need like daily behavior notes, referrals, etc.
I had to move the tables a bit, but I really like how it turned out. To see what my classroom looked like before click {here}.
I can't wait until tomorrow to see how this new arrangement works out with the students in the room. I will let you know how it goes.
Anyone else out there get the itch to change your classroom arrangement in the middle of the year or is it just me???? ;)
Your classroom looks GREAT! Clean and crisp comes to mind when I'm looking at the pictures. Great work!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand about rearranging the classroom. I usually have the itch to rearrange my classroom around every school holiday! My students usually catch on around Thanksgiving.
This group was cracking jokes about it after they came back from Christmas break.
I hope you have a great week!

Thanks! My hubby said my classroom is "busy" so I am thankful to hear you say it looks clean and crisp. I think he just doesn't understand how much stuff we need as teachers. :)
DeleteI love rearranging my room. Whenever I get the itch, I do it! I love the pink cart from Wal-Mart! What a great find! Thanks for stopping by and visiting my blog. I'm a new follower of yours!

DeleteAmanda- thanks for stopping by my blog- You won, so you should be receiving an email from Smedly's Smorgasbord. Your room is FABULOUS! So spacious. I think it s the new year and all of the stores advertising organizational stuff that makes us want to redo stuff.

Wow! I never win things. Thanks! :)
DeleteYour classroom looks great! I love the idea of getting rid of your teacher desk.
ReplyDeleteAs you read on my blog, I just got the itch and did a major renovation in my room. I got my big desktop computer off my desk too. It was just too big to stay there!
I am sad that I don't get to see my kids' reactions tomorrow morning, since I will be in a meeting.
I hope your kids like your room. I am sure they will!

DeleteHey Amanda... I commented back under your comment all about how I save my files so that they are "flattened". I tried to explain it step by step. I hope it helps!
