August Currently

It's August first which means it's time to link up with Farley!

Listening:  I recorded Project Runway last night and am finally catching up with the show.  So far, I like the new season.  Anyone else watch this show?

Loving:  This desk skirt I made for my "desk" at school.

Thinking:  It's getting close to dinner time.....what should I make?

Wanting:  I really don't want to cook tonight.  Who wants to come cook for me?  ;)

Needing:  We are getting ready to give our bedroom a makeover and I am loving this picture.  I am thinking of a gray color scheme with pops of teal/turquoise.  I will also be creating a small office space in one corner so I need to make a trip to IKEA soon!

1st day:  It is going to be here before we know it.

Head on over to Farley's link up and to tell about your currently!

June Currently and Winner

It is officially summer vacation!  I am beyond thrilled.  I love sleeping in, spending time with my kiddos, and enjoying the sun outside.

Once again, I am a little late to the party, but I am linking up with the ever fabulous and hilarious Farley for this month's Currently!

Listening:  As I said it's first day of summer vacation.  My kids are still sleeping and I am sitting on the couch with my laptop enjoying my coffee and listening to the birds outside chirping.  It's the best!

Loving:  Summer!!!  Need I say more??

Thinking:  I know this shouldn't be on my mind, but it is.  I am taking two grad classes this summer.  I am hoping to still get some relaxation in, but I need to get started on my first assignments for my classes.

Wanting:  I love that my kids and I get to spend so much time together just us during the summer.  We always make a summer fun list with all the things we want to do over the summer.  We try to complete as many of them as possible.  We usually complete them all or most of the all.  I can't wait to get started on our list today!

Needing:  Now that I am done teaching for the summer I will be doing most of the cooking at our house.  Usually that is my hubby's job because he is better at it than I.  :)  Anyone have some great EASY recipes they would love to share?  I would love it!

Sumer Bucket List:
1.  I can't wait to get back here for ten days of relaxation!

2.  We love to spend time outside and I plan on doing that as much as possible.  Even if it means taking my laptop out on the deck to work on assignments for grad school.

3.  I have been participating in #3weeksnocheats and have done great about my eating.  I have even lost almost 5 pounds in two weeks, but I really need to get back to working out consistently.  Hoping to find my groove this week and get back in that habit.

And now for the winner of my Rhyme to Read app........congrats goes to Kimberly Chaiken!  Kimberly, check your email!  :)

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to link up with Farley so we can read all about your currently!

Currently March

IT is MARCH!  I am excited because I am hoping that the fact that a new month is on the calendar could possibly mean that this winter weather might finally go away!  Don't get me wrong, I like snow and I love watching my kids play in it, but enough's enough this year..haha.

I am linking up with Farley with her currently this month.  By the way, have you seen her new blog design?  It is super fun.  You should go check it out after you are done here.

Listening:  This is our first Saturday in a long time that we haven't had an early morning soccer game.  Everyone in the house is asleep except me.  This is my favorite time.  I love the quiet and being able to just sit and enjoy my coffee.

Loving:  This new blog design of mine is just making me swoon every day I look at it.  If you are in the market for a new design, you should check out Megan over at A Bird in Hand Designs.  She was great to work with and gave me exactly what I was wanting.  I was so excited I decided to throw a giveaway in honor of my design.  Today is the last day to enter to win a Target gift card and/or a choice product from my store.  Click {here} to enter.

Thinking:  My to-do list for this weekend is a mile long.  I am in charge of the yearbook at my school and it is due soon so I have a lot to do for that, plus grad class homework, plus housework.  I had to leave school yesterday in a bit of a rush because I had an appointment so I also need to get up there at some point and get some things ready for next week.

Wanting:  As I said earlier, I am done with this winter now.  Could spring please come and get here?

Needing:  More sleep would be really nice.  Lately, I have been having trouble falling asleep even though I am super tired.  I think it may have to do with my aforementioned to-do list.

??????:  My answer is assessment & early childhood.  Can you guess the question?

February Currently

Today is February 1st which means two things......it's my sweet grandpa's birthday and it's time for the currently linky.

First I have to say "Happy Birthday Grandpa!"  :)

Now onto the Currently:

Listening:  My son is watching a lego cartoon and I am sitting here next to him.

Loving:  If you follow me on Facebook or Intsagram, you have probably already seen this picture.  I just love it.  It captures the perfect moment of this little sweetie in my class while we were doing our blubber experiment.

Thinking:  We had four days this month of no school because of extremely cold wind chill temps.  Today I spent an hour (I am not exaggerating) shoveling our driveway because our snowblower broke.  The forecast calls for 18-24 more inches of snow this week.  Come on Spring!!!  I need you!

Wanting:  I have been procrastinating big time on my assignment that is due Monday.  I need to get my booty in gear because unfortunately it is not going to do itself no matter what I think. ;)

Needing:  Last night the hubby and I had a long conversation about me not taking on so much.  Unfortunately right now there isn't anything that I can take off my plate (or that I am willing to).  I have promised him that next school year I won't say "yes" to everything!  It is hard because I love being so involved in everything, but it is just not working for our family especially while I am in grad school.

2 truths and a fib:
1.  TRUTH:  I spent my first month of my first year teaching on maternity leave.  I was pregnant when I was hired.  It was definitely hard starting off my first year this way, but I learned so much from it!!

2.  FIB:  My favorite food is chocolate.  I do love chocolate, but my favorite food is strawberries.  I could eat them all day every day....yum!

3.  TRUTH:  I have never had a ticket.  (Knock on wood!)  I have never got a ticket of any kind and I hope to keep it that way!!  :)

And I am throwing a sale tomorrow in celebration of the big game.  Click on the image to head to my store.

January Currently

Happy New Year!  How did you celebrate last night or today?  We didn't do too much here.  Hubby had to work so the kids and I spent the day playing board games.  We played a 3 hour game of Monopoly!  I couldn't believe they lasted that long with the game!!

It is time to link up with Farley for the monthly currently.

Listening:  My kiddos are playing in my daughter's room.  I got out my box of old dance costumes so she is having a ball with those.  My son is playing with her in his Iron Man costume.  It is so fun listening to them play together NICELY!  {It's been rare for them to play without arguing lately so I am enjoying this while it lasts}

Loving:  My hubby called me today and said he was taking me on a date tomorrow night.  He made reservations at a nice restaurant and already booked a sitter.   He is so sweet.  I am thankful every day that he is in my life!

Thinking:  I made this really long to-do list for break.  I had this idea that I would completely clean and organize each room in my house by doing one room a day.  Have I even started this?  Well.....sort of.  Santa got my daughter a HUGE dollhouse and her room needed to be rearranged to find the best spot for it.  That's all I have done though.  I am not feeling too guilty though because I have chosen to spend time with my family instead.  We have played board games, played dress-up, watched movies, etc.

Wanting:  Who doesn't want another week of break?  Am I right or am I right?!?!

Needing:  My house is "picked up", but I really need to deep clean (as was on my to-do list).  Thinking it will all happen on Sunday right before I go back to work....haha.  I am a grade A procrastinator.  ;)

Memory:  This year was the last Christmas we will celebrate at my grandparent's house.  They have lived in their house for 50 years.  50 YEARS!  That is a LONG time.  Last month they decided that it was time to find something better suited for them.  They bought a condo and will be selling their house soon.  So many memories have been made in that house and I know it will be sad when they move, but I am so very excited for them that they will have a place that is better suited for them.  Plus, now they don't have to shovel snow, mow grass, etc.  Can I move in?!?!?!  ;)

Here are a couple pictures from Christmas day at their house:

(90% of pictures hubby's eyes look closed)

Their tree with all the presents in front of their front windows.

My grandparents or Great-pa & G.G. as my kiddos call them.

Grandma & Grandpa with all their grandkids (and spouses) and great grandkids.

We had such a wonderfully blessed Christmas.  It was amazing making memories with all of these people.  I am looking forward to celebrating next Christmas as my grandparent's FIRST Christmas in their new house.

Have you linked up with Farley yet?  You totally should!  Click {here} to head on over to her blog!

December Currently

Can you believe that it is the last month of 2013?  Where has time gone?  This year has just flown by faster than any other…at least to me it has!

I am linking up with Farley at Oh Boy 4th Grade for the December Currently linky.  It is one of my favorite linky parties.  :)

Listening - It is silent in my house because hubby has already left for work and the kids are still asleep.  It is my favorite time of day!

Loving - All our family Christmas get togethers will be starting so I will be seeing my family a whole lot more.  I live about an hour and a half away from my family so it is always exciting when I get to see them!

Thinking - I was just looking at my planner and this month is so busy at school.  I use light blue ink for my school things in my planner and this month is full of light blue.  Lots of meetings, assemblies, and special activities.

Wanting - My first grad class is almost over.  I just have to take my last quiz on Monday.  I am very proud of finishing this class.  It wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting.  :)  Next semester though, I am taking two classes.  Please say a little prayer that I get it in one piece!

Needing - I need to get started on some holiday shopping.  I don't want to be running around at the last minute to get the rest of my gifts.

Favorite Tradition - My favorite holiday tradition is that every year my mom's family has a cookie decorating party/contest.  We have some great categories like most original, prettiest, and ugliest.  It is always so much fun.  It used to be a small gathering at my grandma's house, but now it is about 30-40 people all gathered around my mom's house.  We have a lot of laughs and a lot of fun!  Here are a couple pictures from last year's party.

The Before Picture

One of the After Pictures

Lots of family fun!

The Whole Gang!

I am excited to go through all the other blogs that linked up to hear about your favorite traditions.  I love  all of our traditions, but this is definitely my favorite.

Currently November

Oh my goodness.  I can't believe its November.  Between Oktoberfest, Halloween, and my son's birthday, I have been one exhausted mama this week.  Today is my son's birthday party with the family, but I wanted to link up with Farley for the November Currently first.  :)  You all know I can't miss a currently!!!

Listening:  With the busy week, I have yet to watch any of my "shows".  I recorded Project Runway and am watching it now until the kiddos wake up.  :)

Loving:  My family lives about an hour and a half away from me, but they are coming up for Connor's birthday party today.  I am so excited.  Before soccer, I would go visit them at least once a month, but since we had soccer all the time it has been awhile.

Thinking:  My student teacher's last day is Thursday.  I know the kids and I are all going to be super sad to see her leave.  We worked so well together and the kids just loved her.  In fact, her supervising teacher from her college said she and I "were a match made in heaven."  I agree.  We were the perfect fit for each other.

Wanting:  I need some energy.  With the family coming up, I have a lot of food to cook and some cleaning to do.  That is all after Connor's first indoor soccer game this morning. I am one busy lady today.

Needing:  I need to get off this computer and get some of this stuff done.  I also need to get my butt in gear on my fitness.  I had lost about 20 pounds with weight watchers, but at the beginning of the school year I felt like I was doing o.k. and I stopped doing W.W.  Well, I have gained most of my weight back.  :(  I am thinking that next month I will be back at WW which is perfect timing because then hopefully I won't gain weight during the holiday season.

Yummy pin:  I love all things cupcakes.  Baking is definitely a stress relief for me.  Here is a pin for some yummy Andes mints cupcakes.  The pin is from Your Cup of Cake.  Love it!  Click on the image to head to the original post.

Don't they look delicious?  Well I am off to start getting for the party and soccer game.  I have to go make my son's Iron Man inspired cupcakes myself.  Have a great weekend!!

October Currently with a Treat

It's that time again.......Currently time!  :)

I am linking up again with Farley for the October Currently.

LISTENING:  The hubby is watching the newest Star Trek movie while I am blogging.  I am only about half paying attention to the movie.  I am not really a science fiction kind of girl, but it's o.k.

LOVING:  I am loving my student teacher.  You may have figured that out from this post.  She is great!  I feel so lucky to have such a great person in my room.  My students are learning so much from her as am I.  :)

THINKING:  I am thinking I should finish my assignment for my grad class, but I am also thinking that I probably won't finish it tonight.  I have been so busy every evening lately that I kind of just want the night to relax a bit.

WANTING:  The weather here has been beautiful and I am hoping it will stay.  It was so nice at the soccer fields this weekend.  Hoping this will stick around for a few more weeks.

NEEDING:  I feel very content right now and I don't feel like I need anything!  Isn't that a wonderful feeling?

TRICK OR TREAT:  I am choosing to give you all a treat.  This week my kiddos have been learning about the farm.  Here is a little farm animal math survey that you can have for free by clicking on the image below.  There is a color version as well as a black & white version.

Tomorrow I will be posting about a cute farm animal activity my class did this week.  :)

It is Currently August....What?

I can not believe that the new school year is approaching so quickly. It seems like just yesterday I was all teary eyed sending off my group into first grade. This summer has literally just flown by. It has gone faster than any other summer I remember. Probably because we were so busy.

This morning my son asked, "Mama, what day is it?".

I, of course, replied, "Thursday, August 1st".

He shouted "WHAT? YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! It's August already!"

I kind of felt the same when I realized what day it was too.

One wonderful thing about it being August 1st though is that I get to link up with Farley for her August Currently.

Listening - My daughter is watching Pirates of the Caribbean as I type this.  I love these movies!

Loving - Summer isn't over yet and I plan on enjoying the last few days I have with my kiddos.  We are going to do some fun things like mini-golf, play at parks, make homemade big pretzels, etc.

Thinking - I can't believe school starts in 12 days.  That is CRAZY!!

Wanting - It is so hard to go in and finish my room.  I have been very distracted lately with other things and I wish my room fairy would come and finish my room for me.  When I was little sometimes the room fairy would come to room at night and clean it for me.  :)  Where is that darn room fairy when I need her?  She could also come clean some rooms in my house too.....I'm not picky!

Needing - One of the things that has been distracting me is my darn printer.  I don't actually think it is my printer, but something is happening with the printer and computer and I am not able to print.  In fact, today I went and bought a new printer because after two days I couldn't figure out what else it could be but the printer.  Except I set up the new printer and the same thing is happening.  Grrrrrrr.........hard to finish my room when I still need to print and laminate things from my computer.  My hubby has promised to call Apple tomorrow and hopefully they will have some answers for us.

Back 2 School Must Haves -

1.  A good bag - Just like Farley, I love me a good bag.  My favorite school bag is the organizing utility tote from Thirty-One.  Here is my new one that I bought for school:

It is hard to see it in the picture, but it says Mrs. Pauley on the front.

2.  Sharpie Pens - My FAVORITE writing utensil.  Can't write in my calendar or make many, many lists without them!

I LOVE this activity.  Kids always love the David books and this is a great way to introduce peacemakers and peacebreakers.  We make her anchor charts and hang them by our rules and then we also make the adorable craft in the pack.  Click on the image to grab it for yourself.

And now, I think I shall go to bed.  I will be reading everyone's currently tomorrow.  Can't wait to see your back to school must haves!

July Currently....What?!?!

I almost had a panic attack when I saw July Currently.....this means that June is almost over.  I can't believe that on Monday it will officially be July.  The summer seems to be flying by!  Farley decided to post this month's currently a few days early I am so thankful because next week is going to be a busy one for me!

Without further ado.....here is my July Currently.

Listening:  I love summer for many, many reasons, but I definitely love the fact that it is so much easier to keep on housework like laundry during the summer.  That may be because I am not working or it may be because we end up spending so much time in our swim suits.  Either way....I love it!

Loving:  We have been having some beautiful summer weather here.  Perfect for playing outside with the kids.  I love having so much time with my kiddos during the summer.  It doesn't matter what we do we have fun and I love just being with them!

Thinking:  Vacation is only a few days away....much needed family time!  We will be spending our vacation relaxing, swimming, boating, and jet skiing.  Sounds like the perfect vacation to me!

Wanting:  Vacation to be here already!  :)

Needing:  I made a "to do list" for the summer.  Actually, I made 3....one for home projects, one for school projects, and one for TpT.  I had some new units/packs I wanted to work on.  I haven't gotten as much done as I wanted to on any of the lists.  My hubby said "Don't worry about it....it's summer and before you know it, it will be over.  You want to enjoy it"  Doesn't he sound perfect?  I decided not to worry so much about all the "to do's" on the list and instead just decided to enjoy my summer with my family and if things get done, they get done, but I am not going to worry about it!  {Yep, for those of you who know me well.....I did say I, Amanda Pauley, was not going to WORRY!!}

Tips, Tricks, or Hints:  I started blogging because it interested me and I loved reading other blogs.  I started making TpT products because I was making things for my classroom so I decided why not put them out there and see if anyone else would want them.  I only do these things because I love it!  Once it starts feeling like a job, I know I won't do it.  My advice is to do what you love and love what you do.  That's how I feel about teaching, blogging, and creating products.

I hope you will link up with Farley as well.  I love reading everyone's currently.  Also, be on the lookout for my 300 follower giveaway {probably next week}.  I have reached over 300 followers on bloglovin' and I want to celebrate!!

June Currently

I can't believe it is already June!  This year has flown by.  I am linking up with Farley today for the June Currently linky.

Listening:  My kids just got up and they are playing together nicely and giggling about something.  That is my favorite sound in the world hearing a kid laugh & giggle.

Loving:  Summer Vacation started for me on Tuesday and I have been loving it.  Last week we were super busy and had many things to do each day.  This week is going to be more relaxed and filled with fun for the kids.

Thinking:  I created three long to-do lists for my summer ~ one for home, one for school, and one for the craft projects I have put off during the year.  This is my time to get them done!  All these lists are long, but I am just going to work through them one item at a time instead of worrying about getting them all done at once.  I have all summer.  :)

Wanting:  The biggest project on my to-do list of school is to completely organize my closet.  I am going to take EVERYTHING out of it and then go through it all before putting anything back.  I had planned on going up last week to start this project, but instead decided that I would give myself the week off of anything school related.

Needing:  Sunshine.....it has been rainy and cloudy here.  Hoping for some sunshine to come soon.

3 Vacy Essentials:  I can't go anywhere without my brush and sunglasses and no vacation is complete without sunscreen.  I do not like to get burnt!!!

I am off to play with my kiddos.  I hope you all enjoy your weekend!!  :)

May Currently and Sharing What I'm Wearing

It's a new month which means I am linking up with Farley for the May Currently.  May is probably my favorite month because it's my birthday month!!!  Woot woot!!!  I will be having something special going on for my birthday later in the month so if you don't follow my blog you might want to so you don't miss out!

On to my currently....

This is first silence I have had in awhile.  The kids are asleep, the T.V. is off, and my dogs are calm.  It is heaven on Earth.

Do you ever have moments where you just look at your kids and think "Oh my gosh...I just love you SO MUCH!"  I am having one of those days.  I mean I always love my kids, but some days I just overcome with the emotion of it all and today is one of those days.  I thank God every day for my children.  They are definitely my world.

Every summer my kids and I create a "Summer Fun List".  We write down things we want to do during the summer on the list.  We hang it on the fridge and then cross off the items as we do them.  We haven't created our list yet, but we have talked about some ideas.......swimming at the local pool, going to a new park, going to the movie Monsters University, visiting my family, etc.  I love this tradition we started a few years ago.  We get so much quality time together just working our way through our list.

I had a cold and I lost my voice.  It started on Monday, but I still could be loud enough for class.  By Tuesday, it was barely loud enough for class and then yesterday (Wed.) I could only speak in whisper.  Imagine 23 5-6 year olds all pumped up because it's Hawaiian day and we have a bunch of fun activities planned, but the teacher can only speak in whisper.  Yeah.....not good!  I am proud of how my class handled the day for the most part.  It was just frustrating because even if I was "yelling" the kids in the back of the room or carpet still had a hard time hearing me, but we survived.  Today was a little better so I am hoping by Monday we will back to normal.  I have been drinking lots of green tea with honey to help!

I am still in need of new summer clothes.  I really want new clothes.  I even have money sitting aside just for new clothes, but can't find exactly what I am looking for.  I hate that.  When I don't have the money sitting aside specifically for that, I find TONS of things I want, but when I want to spend the money on clothes I can never find anything I like.  Bummer!  Guess I have to keep looking.  ;)

My hubby and I have planned many vacations for just the two of us, but they never seem to happen.  This summer will be our 10 year wedding anniversary and I really want us to go somewhere....anywhere, but just do something to celebrate just the two of us!

While I'm linking up, I am going to also link up with Khrys and Brittany for their Share Whatcha Wear Linky:

Let me apologize in advance for my pictures.  I have a terrible full length mirror and not a great spot to take pictures.  :)

This outfit is from Express.  The shirt, pants, and shoes {which you can't really see} are all from there.  The necklace was a free gift from Lia Sophia a few years ago when I had a party.

This outfit is super old and hard to see.  The lighting is bad by mirror and I can't turn on the other light because the hubby is always sleeping and I don't want to wake him.  Anyways, this shirt if from Maurices and the pants are Kohls {Apt. 9}.  This necklace is also from Lia Sophia and I can't remember where the shoes are from because they are so old.

This shirt and pants outfit is from Express.  The boots are from Target.  This is one of my instagram pics so it's blurry on the edges on purpose.  :)  This was from last week and I was upset that it was so cold I needed to wear boots.

I love this new dress from Target, but I don't know if I will wear it to school anymore.  It was a little too short for bending down all day long to tie shoes and help kiddos at the carpet.  The cardigan is from Old Navy and the belt and boots are from Target.  I was proud of myself for pulling this look together and even got some compliments from my nieces on it which is a pretty big deal!

I know this post is getting kind of long, but I have to share a story with you from my class today.  I have a little pumpkin in my class who is either going to be retained or may possibly be going into special education.  He really struggles with things.  We do a lot of songs in my classroom and he really has a hard time with remembering the words.  Anyways, for our ABC countdown it was "I" day for ice cream.  I brought in ice cream sandwiches.  After this little guy finished his sandwich, he got up out of his chair and started singing our thank you song to me.  Coming from him it just meant so much and touched my heart.  I know it doesn't seem like a big thing, but for him and to me it was.  If we ever sing our thank you song, I am telling the class who to sing it to so the fact that he just up and did it melts my heart.

If you are interested, this is our thank you song...."thank you, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!"  On the last thank you, we point to the person we are thanking.

I am planning on coming back tomorrow night or Saturday to tell you all about my zoo unit.  I have a bazillion pictures to share with you and a freebie so come back and check them out!!

Well I am off to relax with another cup of green tea and honey.  Don't forget to link up with Khrys, Brittany, and Farley!  :)

Currently and Getting Acquainted

I am linking up with Farley for the April Currently this month.

Listening - My hubby is watching Renovation Realities on the TV behind me.  I keep stopping to watch too.  Funny that we are watching this since it has been our own reality for the past couple of weeks.

Loving - We had some home improvement projects that we wanted to complete while I was on Spring Break and we were able to finish them all.  We just need to put up the crown molding and we are set!!

Thinking - I have been a night owl while on break so I am pretty sure that alarm is going to go off way too early tomorrow.

Wanting - Spring Break was not exactly as I had planned.  Both my kids were sick for most of break....my son had pneumonia.  Not fun!!!!

Needing - I think I have mentioned that I have been on weight watchers and I have lost over 20 pounds.  The only bad thing is that most of my clothes are too big.  I need to get some new work clothes, but I am having a hard time finding things I like.  Anyone have any suggestions of places to shop??  I don't want to spend a lot either because I still have some weight to lose.

Advice - My grandma always says, "It's only temporary."  There have been times in my life when I have been upset, frustrated, etc. and that was always her advice.  I love it because it's so true!

While I'm linking up, I decided to also link up with the always fabulous Latoya from Flying into First Grade.

This week's linky theme is a favorites survey.  Here are some of my favorites:

Favorite Place to Shop

I mean really.....tell me one teacher who doesn't love Target.  :)

Favorite TV Show

I have watched this show since the first episode.  I love it and I am not ashamed to say it.  I do have a few other shows that I love that I have to mention as well:

Favorite Sweet Treat

I have previously mentioned that I keep this in a drawer in my classroom.  Certain co-workers know that it is there and will stop in to get a piece when needed.  Chocolate always makes your day better.

Favorite Food

mmmmmm.......strawberries.  When I was a little girl, my grandparents would take my cousins and I strawberry picking the first week is June.  I loved it.  I could seriously eat strawberries each and every day!!!

Favorite Restaurant

I love this little Thai restaurant by my house.  They have the most delicious lettuce cups/wraps.  SO.  GOOD.  I also love me some Panera.

Ok, ladies and gentlemen....now it's your turn to link up!  I would love hear all about your favorites and your currently!  :)

Just a reminder about some fabulous giveaways out there in blog land!!  :)

I'm back to school tomorrow....looking forward to seeing all my little kinder babies and hearing about their spring breaks.
