GoNoodle In the Classroom

I am joining some of my fabulous blogging buddies as well as GoNoodle to share some great ways to step up your GoNoodle game in the classroom!  If you haven't signed up yet for your FREE GoNoodle account, then click here to get started.  You don't know what you are missing!

I LOVE that GoNoodle has so many different types of activities.  You can choose which type of activity you want your students to do by clicking on the categories button once you log in.

I usually plan out my GoNoodle brain breaks a bit.  I like to do one after each lesson in my classroom.  If my students have been sitting then I like to do something from the guided dancing, sports and exercise, or free movement categories.

If my students have just been able to be a little louder, for instance if we were doing some cooperative learning structures, then I usually choose an activity from the calming or coordination categories.

Before any assessment, we always do a calming activity.  It helps my students calm down and focus so much better on what they are doing.

Another thing I use GoNoodle for is practicing decomposing the number ten.  Don't look at me like I'm crazy....I see you over there.  It's true.  Each time we finish a brain break and our champ shows up with the bar we talk about what number we are at and how many more we need to get to ten.

By doing this quick little conversation, my students gain so much number sense and then when we start decomposing numbers in math my students already have some knowledge of this.

One lucky reader is going to win a GoNoodle Tumbler!  How adorable are these.  I just ordered mine and can't wait to start using it in my classroom.  Just go to the rafflecopter below to try to win.

Camp GoNoodle!!

I am loving this sweet summertime....are you?  I hope that you are taking some time for yourself to just relax and enjoy with your families.

Moms out there know though that as much as we love to spend time with our families during the summer sometimes our own kiddos can get a little restless.  At least, I hope I am not the only one who this happens to.

The problem at our house lately has been this darn weather.  It is has been raining a ton which makes my kids even more restless and more likely to argue with each other.

I have the perfect solution........

CAMP  GONOODLE!

Camp GoNoodle is a free online program for kids to stay active and be creative this summer!  If you already know and love GoNoodle for the classroom, you'll love Camp GoNoodle -- a summer extension of the GoNoodle experience kids love at school.

If this is your first time hearing of GoNoodle then Camp GoNoodle is a great introduction that you can do with your whole family!  Your kids will flip for this!

Here's How It Works:
Head to GoNoodle "camp."  Each Monday starting June 29, a new set of five adventures will appear at campgonoodle.com.

Go on new adventures each and every week!  Each adventure uses GoNoodle.com's active videos and games for inspiration, and challenges kids to use their imaginations, get moving, and be outside.  Just picture its.....building your own DIY jetpack, creating an obstacle course race, or making sushi with things you already have at home.

Sing along!  Each week includes two brand new camp songs to inspire creativity and movement.  (Maybe now PopSeeKo won't always be stuck in my head ;)

Connect with fellow campers!  Share your adventures using the #campgonoodle hashtag to join the camp commenty.

Each week, Campers of the Week are recognized as all-stars and earn exclusive Camp GoNoodle prizes.

Earn badges!  Complete each week of adventure by printing the weekly badge to hang up, loud and proud.

There will be 4 weeks of camp and each week will have it's own theme!  (I love a good theme don't you?)

All you need for Camp is.....

a free GoNoodle account

a device with internet access (computer, chromebook, iPad, smart phone, etc.)

a family ready for adventure

(A family that plays together....stays together)

Ready to Register for Camp?

Go to campgonoodle.com on Monday (June 29th) and let the fun begin!

NOTE:  If you are a teacher who already has a teacher/school GoNoodle account, you will need to go to this link to sign up to receive Camp GoNoodle emails:

GoNoodle Sanity Savers

I am linking up with my sweet friend Elizabeth over at Kickin' It In Kindergarten for some sanity savers.

It's that time of year we were are forced to stay inside at recess time because it is just too darn cold out.  Our district's rule is we can go outside if the wind-chill is 10 or above.  All I can say is thank goodness for GoNoodle!  It is a lifesaver especially with the new indoor recess mixes.  They are the perfect length to keep my students up and moving during our entire recess time.

I love that GoNoodle saved me some time by creating these mixes so I can just press play and then we can have fun for recess!  My students are so much more focused after doing these.

My Happy Place is my house, probably more importantly my couch.  I love stretching out and relaxing after a long day of work, meetings, and running kiddos to sporting events.

My current guilty pleasure is binge watching Netflix.  I don't think I am the only one either since a week or so ago there was a little linky going on over on Instagram all about it.

Keep calm and eat chocolate!  I mean......does it even need an explanation?  I keep Dove Dark Chocolate Promises in my room just as a little pick me up when needed.  So yummy!

Head on over to Elizabeth's blog and link up with her for a chance to win some fun GoNoodle gear!

Gave it a Whirl Wednesday

Did you participate in our Bright Ideas Blog Hop?  I loved hopping around and seeing all the great ideas.  I even tried a few out in my own classroom.

I am linking up with Nicole from Mrs. Rios Teaches for Gave It A Whirl Wednesday.

Kathy Griffin posted about Brain Breaks in the Bright Ideas Blog Hop.  We love brain breaks in our classroom especially since the weather has made it impossible to get outside for recess.  She gave some great ideas for brain breaks, but I chose one in particular to give a whirl......Just Dance on youtube.

My kiddos love to dance and get up and move around.  They also love "What Does the Fox Say?"  Lucky me, I found a Just Dance version of this song on youtube.  Here is a fun pic and a short clip of my students following along.

After doing a little dance or two, my students are ready to calm down and work.

Kathy didn't mention this one, but since we are talking about Brain Breaks I thought I would share another great youtube video to use if you like brain breaks, yoga, and stories.  :)

My friend Elizabeth from Kickin' It In Kindergarten shared Cosmic Yoga with me.  My students and I are in love!

What do you do Brain Breaks in your classroom?  I would love to hear in the comments below!  :)
